Vision

21 Days of Prayer is not simply a spiritual exercise—it’s an invitation into deeper intimacy with God and a fresh outpouring of His Spirit across our church.

We believe prayer is not preparation for the work of ministry—prayer is the work. For three weeks, we will come before the Lord as one body, humbling ourselves through fasting, aligning our hearts with His Word, and interceding for renewal in our families, our neighbors, and the nations.

This is about more than carving out extra time for God; it’s about creating holy expectancy that He will move in ways we cannot manufacture. We are believing for personal repentance, family restoration, citywide revival, and gospel impact that reaches far beyond our own walls.

We want these 21 days to mark a spiritual shift in our church—a line in the sand moment where we say, “We are a praying people. We are a hungry people. We are a revived people.”

Daily Prayer Prompts

DAY 1

Start With Repentance

Psalm 51:10 – “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Before revival can happen around us, it has to begin inside us. Today, ask God to search your heart and show you anything that needs to be surrendered—pride, bitterness, distraction, or sin that has dulled your love for Him. Repentance isn’t about shame; it’s about making room for God’s Spirit to move freely in you.

Why it matters: When we pray this way, we don’t just confess—we create space for God to bring freedom and fresh power into our lives.

Fasting Focus: As you skip one meal today, let your hunger remind you that what you need most is not food but a clean heart before God.

DAY 2

A Culture of Prayer & Repentance at Southall Church

1 John 1:9 - “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Pray that Southall would be marked as a praying church. Ask God to create a culture where repentance is normal, not rare—where prayer is not just an activity but the foundation of everything we do. Pray that this culture would begin with our leaders and spread to every home and every person in our church.

Why it matters: When prayer becomes our culture, revival doesn’t stay in a building—it spills into homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods.

Fasting Focus: Skip one meal to remind yourself that we are dependent on God, not on ourselves, to move in power.

DAY 3

Hunger for God’s Presence

Psalm 84:2 - My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Programs and strategies can’t change lives—only God’s presence can. Pray that we would hunger for His presence more than we hunger for success, comfort, or approval. Ask Him to stir up in our church a holy discontent with “business as usual” and to draw us into deeper encounters with Him.

Why it matters: When we pray for God’s presence, He fills ordinary moments with eternal impact, and His Spirit does what our effort never could.

Fasting Focus: As you fast today, let your hunger pangs become a prayer: “God, make me hungry for You above all else.”

DAY 4

Clarity on Our Vision

Proverbs 29:18 - “Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.

Pray for God to give Southall clear vision for this next season. Ask Him to align our plans with His, to make us bold in pursuing what matters most, and to give us wisdom in how to carry it out. Pray that our church would not be distracted by lesser things but would be laser-focused on bringing the life of Jesus to families, neighbors, and nations.

Why it matters: When we pray for vision, God directs us toward His purposes and keeps us from chasing distractions.

Fasting Focus: As you give up a meal today, remember that clarity doesn’t come from our effort—it comes from God’s Spirit.

DAY 5

Unity in Our Church Family

John 17:23 - “I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

Pray that Southall would be a place of deep unity—a church where people choose grace over offense, humility over pride, and love over division. Ask God to make us one, not for our own sake, but so the watching world would see Jesus through us.

Why it matters: When the church walks in unity, it becomes an unstoppable witness to the world of God’s love.

Fasting Focus: Let your hunger today remind you that unity requires sacrifice. As you fast, pray for the grace to lay down preferences for the sake of the mission.

DAY 6

Open-Handedness to Follow God’s Lead

Isaiah 55:8–9 - “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

It’s easy to cling to what feels safe or familiar, but following Jesus often means stepping into the unknown. Pray that Southall would be marked by open-handedness—willing to let go of our own plans in order to follow God’s. Ask Him to make us flexible, courageous, and obedient as He leads us into new opportunities.

Why it matters: When we pray this way, we position ourselves to step into what only God can do, not just what we can manage.

Fasting Focus: As you fast today, hold your empty hands before God as a physical sign of surrender.

DAY 7

Renewal for Our Leaders

Galatians 6:9 - “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Pray for our elders, staff, and volunteers—that God would refresh and renew them. Ask Him to guard their hearts, strengthen their families, and give them joy in serving. Pray that their leadership would flow out of intimacy with Jesus, not out of exhaustion or striving.

Why it matters: When leaders are renewed, the whole church is strengthened and refreshed.

Fasting Focus: As you fast, remember that even leaders need to be led by God. Pray for fresh anointing and strength over every person who leads and serves at Southall.

DAY 8

Revival in Franklin

Habakkuk 3:2 - “O Lord, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.”

Pray for God to move powerfully in Franklin and Williamson County. Ask Him to awaken hearts across our city, to draw people back to Him, and to bring healing in homes and neighborhoods. Pray that Southall would be a light in Franklin, not just on Sundays, but every day of the week.

Why it matters: When revival touches a city, families are healed, faith is awakened, and the gospel spreads like wildfire.

Fasting Focus: As you fast, let your hunger remind you that revival won’t come through human effort but through God’s Spirit.

DAY 9

Salvation for Our Friends and Neighbors

Romans 10:1- “Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.”

Think of people in your life who don’t know Jesus—friends, coworkers, classmates, family members, neighbors. Pray for them by name today. Ask God to open their hearts to the gospel and to give you boldness to love them well and share your faith.

Why it matters: When we pray for the lost, God softens hearts, opens doors, and writes new eternal stories.

Fasting Focus: As you give up a meal, let it be a reminder that nothing is more urgent than people meeting Jesus.

DAY 10

Groups as Places of Discipleship

Acts 2:46–47 - “And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Pray for our Life Groups, Classes, and Unique Groups. Ask God to use them as places where people grow in faith, form friendships, and step deeper into discipleship. Pray for group leaders to shepherd well and for people who feel isolated to find a spiritual family in community.

Why it matters: When people find discipleship in community, their faith grows roots that last.

Fasting Focus: As you fast today, pray that people at Southall would crave community and discipleship as deeply as you crave food.

DAY 11

Southall Students and Kids

Psalm 145:4 - “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.

Pray for our children and students to encounter Jesus in a personal and powerful way. Ask God to protect their hearts and minds, to give them courage to stand for truth, and to raise up a generation hungry for His Word. Pray for our kids’ and students’ leaders to be filled with passion and endurance as they invest in the next generation.

Why it matters: When kids and students meet Jesus, entire family trees are transformed.

Fasting Focus: As you skip a meal, let your hunger drive you to pray that this generation would hunger more deeply for God than anything the world has to offer.

DAY 12

Marriages and Families

Joshua 24:15 - “And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Pray for God to strengthen marriages and families across our church. Ask Him to heal broken relationships, to bring unity where there’s division, and to make our homes places of peace and discipleship. Pray that marriages in our church would reflect Christ’s love for the church.

Why it matters: When families are strong in Christ, the church becomes strong in its witness.

Fasting Focus: As you fast, pray for God to fill the empty or hurting spaces in homes with His presence and His power.

DAY 13

Local Leaders and Schools

1 Timothy 2:1–2 - “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

Pray for teachers, administrators, first responders, and city officials in Franklin. Ask God to guide them with wisdom, integrity, and compassion as they serve our community. Pray for schools to be places of safety, truth, and growth, and for Christian teachers and students to be salt and light where they are.

Why it matters: When leaders walk with wisdom, communities flourish and people thrive.

Fasting Focus: As you give up a meal today, pray with humility for those who carry the weight of leading our community—that they would be strengthened and guided by God.

DAY 14

Southall Church as a Church of Love, Prayer, and Mission

John 13:35 - “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Pray that Southall would be known in our community as a people marked by love, prayer, and mission. Ask God to use us to welcome the hurting, disciple the hungry, and send out the called. Pray that our reputation in Franklin wouldn’t be about programs or polish, but about people encountering Jesus through us.

Why it matters: When a church is known for love, prayer, and mission, it becomes a beacon of hope to the city around it.

Fasting Focus: As you fast, remember that what we’re known for is not built by branding but by obedience.

DAY 15

Missionaries We Support

Romans 10:15 - “And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!

Pray for the missionaries Southall partners with around the world. Ask God to give them courage, provision, and fruitfulness as they share the gospel. Pray for protection over their families, boldness in their ministry, and joy in seeing lives transformed.

Why it matters: When we pray for missionaries, we join in God’s work of carrying the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Fasting Focus: As you fast, remember that missionaries often give up comfort for the sake of the gospel.

DAY 16

Unreached People Groups

Romans 10:14 - “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

Pray for the billions of people in the world who have never heard the name of Jesus. Ask God to send workers into the harvest, to open doors in nations where the gospel has been closed, and to reveal Himself in dreams, visions, and miracles where missionaries cannot yet go.

Why it matters: When we pray for the unreached, eternity shifts as the gospel breaks into places it has never been before.

Fasting Focus: As you skip a meal, let your hunger remind you of the deeper hunger of those who have never tasted the Bread of Life.

DAY 17

Nations in Crisis

Psalm 46:1 - “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Pray for nations experiencing war, natural disasters, famine, and unrest. Ask God to bring peace where there is violence, provision where there is need, and hope where there is despair. Pray for the global church to rise up and serve as the hands and feet of Jesus in these places.

Why it matters: When we intercede for nations in crisis, God moves to comfort the broken and show His power in desperate times.

Fasting Focus: As you fast, remember that Jesus is close to the brokenhearted. Pray that He would be tangibly near to those who are suffering today.

DAY 18

Persecuted Christians

Hebrews 13:3 - “Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.

Pray for our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering for their faith. Ask God to strengthen their endurance, protect their families, and give them boldness to keep sharing the gospel in the face of opposition. Pray that their witness would spark revival in hard places.

Why it matters: When we pray for the persecuted, we stand with them as family and strengthen the global church.

Fasting Focus: As you give up food today, let it connect you to their sacrifice.

DAY 19

Leaders of Our Nation

Proverbs 21:1 - “The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He will.

Pray for the leaders of our country—local, state, and national. Ask God to surround them with wisdom, integrity, and humility. Pray that they would be instruments of justice and peace, and that God’s purposes would prevail even through imperfect people.

Why it matters: When leaders are guided by God’s wisdom, nations are blessed and people flourish.

Fasting Focus: As you fast, confess that true hope doesn’t come from government but from God’s Kingdom.

DAY 20

Revival in America

2 Chronicles 7:14 - “...if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Pray for revival across our nation—that God would awaken His church, call prodigals home, and turn hearts back to Him. Ask Him to break down idols of success, comfort, and self, and to replace them with a hunger for His presence.

Why it matters: When God revives a nation, the gospel becomes louder than the culture, and whole generations are changed.

Fasting Focus: As you fast, let your empty stomach become a prayer for God to fill America with His Spirit once again.

DAY 21

Night of Worship

Acts 4:31 - “And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.

Tonight we close these 21 days with a night of worship. Pray that God would pour out His Spirit in a fresh way as we gather. Ask Him to bring freedom, healing, repentance, and joy in His presence. Pray that the fruit of these 21 days would ripple out far beyond this season—that Southall would be marked as a people of prayer, fasting, and revival.

Why it matters: When we worship and pray together, God’s presence transforms not just a moment but the future of our church.

Fasting Focus: As you give up food today, come into Worship Night empty, so God can fill you.

Fasting FAQ

  1. What is fasting?
Fasting is choosing to give up something good—like food—for a period of time in order to pursue something greater: closeness with God. It’s a way to say with our bodies what our hearts long to declare: “God, I need You more than I need anything else.”

  1. Why are we fasting during 21 Days of Prayer?
  • To create space in our lives for God to speak.
  • To express dependence on Him for breakthrough.
  • To align our hunger for food with a deeper hunger for His presence.
  • To practice humility and repentance before God.

  1. How are we fasting together?
We’re encouraging everyone to fast from one meal a day during these 21 days. For example, you might choose to skip lunch each day and use that time to pray.
(Note: Fasting is not about legalism or guilt. If you can’t fast from food for medical reasons, consider fasting from something else—like social media, caffeine, or entertainment.)

  1. What should I do instead of eating?
    Use that time to:
  • Read the daily prayer prompt.
  • Journal what you sense God is saying.
  • Pray for families, neighbors, and nations.
  • Worship quietly or listen to a worship song.

  1. What if I’ve never fasted before?
Start simple. Try one meal a day and see how God uses it. The goal is not to “do it perfectly” but to set your heart on Him. Remember: fasting without prayer is just dieting. The power comes when we replace food with focused prayer.

  1. What if I mess up?
Grace! This isn’t about performance—it’s about pursuit. If you miss a day or meal, don’t quit. Pick it back up the next day. God honors your desire to seek Him.

  1. What should I expect?
  • Hunger pangs—let those remind you to pray.
  • Fresh dependence on God.
  • Breakthrough in areas where you’ve been praying for change.
  • A deeper sense of His presence.
